What is the ideal distance from a red chili quartz flash (bulbs) to the surface of the shirt? I have been told that they cure best with more air space, is this correct?
I know different shirts / materials / colors will react different, just looking for average info on 100% cotton shirts.

Hi just wanted to get some info on how other shops handle employee break periods. We run a 9-6 work day in production with two paid 15 minute breaks and an hour for lunch off the clock. Just wondering what other shops do?

Which battery is supposed to be used in a 95 Challenger Omron C200H CPU?
The BAT09 (3.0V) is listed in the owners manual.
The BAT08 (3.6V) is listed in parts dept for M&R as being the replacement?

Thanks

Some of you may have had problems registering for the forums over the past few days. We had some trouble with the registration system that allowed spam-bots access to the site, so we had to shut it down until we could resolve the issue. Everything is back up and running correctly, so please give registration another try if you haven’t already.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Maintenance Tank Chip Reset

Lately, for whatever reason, we've had to start resetting our maintenance tank chip differently than the on screen instructions on the HMI.

Normally, you power off just the printer and then go to the HMI and press the button, let it do its thing and then power on the printer again and all is good. When you do that now, the "WAITING" flashing message never clears and it goes on forever.

Now, we have to power off the printer, then turn the main power off, then back on so the HMI is active but the printer is still off and then do the reset. The "WAITING" message clears itself, then you power on the printer and all is good.

Any ideas on why that may have started? If I remember correctly, it was kind of intermittent at first and would work normally when it worked but now when you try and do it normally, it never works unless you perform the procedures outlined in the remedy above.

Just wondering if something might be going out in the HMI.

Gauntlet 3 help needed

Our shop just purchased a new Gauntlet 3 about a month ago. Does anyone have any advice as far as resources about press operation or tips to speed up the set-up process? The Go-to function is less than what we hoped it could be, since it seems to reference the pallet that is on the load position at all times, not allowing us to jump from head 3 to head 6 lets say. T o send the strike off to head 3, we would push, go to 3, then to get to six(three heads further) we would have to again push go to head 3.

Any online tutorials in regards to the Gauntlet 3 would be extremely helpful. The manual does not give much info as to how the machine operates in a production setting.

Thanks for any help.

SoftRip 6.9 and Epson 7700 suddenly funkinly.

$

Last Tuesday my Epson 7700 (powered by W. SoftRip 6.9 for separations) started cutting off my images... not like it ran out of ink... there's a hard-line where it just decided "I don't want to do it any more." (The printer did retain the full image size ... but just stopped the image.)

At first I thought it was a communication issue... as it would break off different attempts at different spots... until someone ran a multi-image layout... some of the images in the layout finished okay... some were cut off...

I would figure that if it was a communication issue, images would be cut off at the same place as the media advanced.

Any thoughts?

~W

Additional: I've pretty much ruled out my network hubs and switches by running the patch cable direct to the printer off the RIP station.

I ripped/printed a small collection of images in a layout. 3 out of 4 imaged fine. So I isolated the one bad one… imaged it again and it crapped out in the same exact place.

Beyond that, I re-RIPped that image… it got a little further. (This tells me that my PostScript file is intact, and that the RIP engine is randomly giving up.)

Epson 4800 Film printing issue

I have an Epson 4800 that recently started printing films that wouldn't align once complete. It seems some of the prints are stretching just a little bit, making it so that fills end up not aligning with their strokes and so forth. I have also noticed that my film slowly starts to track toward the left side of the printer as it is running. I have done my best to clean the feed roller as well as the carriages, but it hasn't fixed the issue. Anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this? It seems to have start happening last week when I changed operating systems on my computer. However, I have since reinstalled the drivers. I also don't think that would cause the film to be tracking off to one side in the printer. That seems more of a mechanical issue.

Not sure if it matter, but our printer is over 12,000 prints through it, which makes it will over 20,000 feet of film through the machine I would think. Is it maybe just time to replace it?

Thanks!

Having issues with 8/10 Gauntlet coming off registration on every other arm it seems like, when the machine goes down, it's shifting a little and every 3rd print is off a little more, some up to a quarter inch, this is only a recent problem, however, as we have had this press for about 2 years now with no issues like this. If anyone has any ideas about what could be causing this please help!

Cayenne D Quartz flash errors

$

Our Cayenne D has been giving the same errors intermittently for weeks now. AL1 & AL2. After consulting the manual and calling tech support we concluded that the IR temp sensor and/or internal fan needed to be replaced. We have since replaced both and gave the entire unit a deep clean. The alarms went away for a few weeks, but unfortunately have returned.

Any thoughts or different solutions welcomed.

black line down side of shirt at the edge of printed image

$

I notice this on white shirts, so maybe it has to do with white shirt color setting.
I print a smaller, maybe 4 inches or 6 inches, practice print, and it looks fine, so I size it up to its normal size, 10 inches for example, and print it, and it prints a dark line down the +Y side of the shirt, right where the edge of the image file is.

Doesn't happen with every white shirt print though.

Thoughts?
